Flint. MI, the best Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Gym in Michigan, the Ultimate Fighting Academy (UFA) just got better! Rich Williams received his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. For some Jiu Jitsu gyms that might not seem like a huge deal but for the members of the best MMA gym in Michigan they know how big of deal this is. Under the instructions of Andres Garcia one does not raise a level and get promoted without earning it.
Andrea Garcia is “old school” and to earn a promotion one not only has to show the developed skills to rise levels but one must also show the discipline and attend class regularly, on time Andres says. Andrea ensures his blue belts can escape the toughest holds, control their opponent with finesses and seemly ease, dominate white belts of any size and finish off their opponents.
Andres Garcia says “I don’t hand out belts to just hand out belts and I am not going to have one of our blue belts be beaten by a white belt”. “The progression of belts should take years, not months”. One of the biggest differences is sometimes Jiu Jitsu gyms now have to advertise as a MMA gym and there is a big difference between traditional Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). With BJJ the progression from white belt to blue belt takes years and sometimes between 2 and 3 years.
So why did the best MMA gym in Michigan get better with the Rich Williams promotion? Well Rich has been a key member at the Ultimate Fighting Academy and always spends time with white belts being patient and teaching. Having Rich achieve the level of blue belt and knowing how deserving it was makes Rich a more then qualified indivdual to help assist Andrea in BJJ classes.
Congratulations to Rich “One Punch” Williams on his promotion to Blue Belt.
